TIMBER WORK

This covers decking, structural retaining wand feature walls, arbors, bench seating and fencing, built on site to suit the span and the load.

It spans structural work and feature work. The process is the same either way, timber is chosen for how it handles this climate, then set and fixed so the finished piece carries its own weight properly, whether that's a deck bearing foot traffic or an arbor spanning open air.

Timber is selected for how it takes humidity, rain and coastal exposure without constant treatment. Hardwoods weather to grey or hold their colour depending on the species, but either way they settle into the site rather than needing to be fought back to looking new. That is the point of using them here.

Design and Documentation

Timber elements are usually specified at concept stage alongside the surrounding hardscape, species, finish, and how a structure like an arbor or deck sits against the rest of the build.
